This consumer safety specification addresses incidents associated with corded baby monitors that were identified by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), including strangulations as a result of entanglement in cords. It establishes requirements for corded baby monitors, including audio monitors, video monitors, and motion sensor monitors. It also provides requirements for labeling, instructional material and packaging, and is intended to minimize injuries to children resulting from normal usage and reasonably foreseeable misuse or abuse of baby monitors.
